What is CAMRA LocAle?

 

CAMRA LocAle promotes pubs stocking locally-brewed real ale. ‘Locally’ means within 30 miles from the point of sale – i.e. the shortest driving distance from pub to the brewery. Pubs in our branch area can be accredited if they always stock at least one local ale in good drinkable condition. The scheme builds on a growing consumer demand for quality local produce and an increasing awareness of ‘green’ issues.

 

• Everyone benefits from local pubs stocking locally brewed real ales:-

 

• The environment, due to fewer ‘beer miles’ resulting in less congestion and pollution, reducing impact on the environment.

 

• Tourism, due to an increased sense of local identity and pride – let’s celebrate what makes our locality different.

 

• The local economy, because more money is spent and retained locally.

 

• Public houses – stocking local real ales can increase pub visits.

 

• Consumers get to enjoy a greater beer choice and diversity.

 

• Local brewers increase their sales and get better feedback from consumers.

 

Pubs which have been given LocAle status by their local CAMRA branch can display the LocAle sticker on their windows/doors. They may also display other material in their pubs such as posters and pump clip crowners that highlight which beers are brewed locally.
