PRESS RELEASE

WINTER GLOW WINS GOLD AT CAMRA'S NATIONAL WINTER ALE FESTIVAL

Exe Valley Brewery is delighted to have been awarded Gold for its Winter Glow in the Old Ales / Strong Milds Category of the Champion Beer of Britain at the National Competition held in Derby yesterday (19th Feb 2014)

Winter Glow is a traditional old ale at 6% abv – a strong, dark and warming beer made with Devon Malt (from Tuckers in Newton Abbot), English hops and our own spring water.

Brewer and owner Guy Sheppard is delighted with the award 'We always knew that Winter Glow is a winner, but it is wonderful to have that confirmed by experienced beer judges at a National level. A Gold award is superb and especially welcome now with 2014 being our 30th Anniversary year'

Exe Valley Brewery was started in 1984 and is situated in an old farm building just outside the Mid-Devon village of Silverton overlooking the Exe Valley.

Also attached is the Pump Clip image for Winter Glow (designed by Toucan Design of Exeter) and a picture taken a few minutes after the announcement of the award showing Guy Sheppard (right – brewery owner) and James Fryer (left – brewing assistant) celebrating with some of the Gold award winning Winter Glow.

Exe Valley Wins Gold.

Congratulations to Exe Valley Brewery for winning gold in the Old Ales/Strong Milds category of the Champion Winter Beer of Britain 2014 with their 6% Winter Glow. Not only was Winter Glow a category winner but also Bronze in the overall category.

Winning places for the overall category of this prestigious Champion Winter Beer of Britain 2014 award are;

Gold - Durnham Porter, Durnham Massey (Altrincham)

Silver – Black Gold, Cairngorm (Highlands Scotland)

Bronze - Winter Glow, Exe Valley (Devon)

This year Exe Valley Brewery are celebrating their 30th year and what a way to celebrate. Tasting the beer at our Festival of Winter Ales in 2013 we (especially us dark ale drinkers) knew Exe Valley was onto a winner when it won gold in the judging of the SW Regional Champion Beer of Britain in 2013.

Winter Glow is a 6% dark, strong traditional old ale, just how I like it. Well done to Guy Sheppard and his apprentice James, the brewers of Exe Valley.
